Impact Beyond The Stories.
African Causes & Communities
When I write about Africa, I choose socio-political issues of importance that have not received the attention they deserve.
These African causes & communities might be current, such as the terror in the Sahel portrayed in Rebuke the Wind. Or the challenges could be historic, as they are in Rebuild the Moon that educates the reader about treatment of San Bushmen in the 1950s. Wildlife trafficking is also a compelling problem. Defend the Sunrise presents readers with a clear look into the on-going struggle to preserve Africa’s wildlife and the heroic women and men who are on the front lines.
All royalties to me go to the communities about which I write. It is my small way of giving back to people that have given all of us so much. Explore them below to see how these stories are helping make a difference beyond the page and how you can get involed as well.

Supporting Girls Education in the Sahel
Rebuke The Wind
Rebuke The Wind is more than a fast-moving African thriller; it is a commitment to the young women and their families depicted in the novel. All royalties will go directly to several charities vetted by GlobalGiving in Cameroon improve the education of 70 girls.
"Isa’s indomitable spirit is inspiring. The GlobalGiving team sends a warm thank you to Trip and every single Rebuke the Wind reader, who with their purchase will support urgent charitable projects in Cameroon that break down barriers for women and girls."
- Marlena Hartz, Director of Marketing & Communications at GlobalGiving
Supporting Qxatta's Family in the Kalahari
Rebuild The Moon
All royalties from Rebuild The Moon went first to Qxatta, the Bushman elder who tutored me in the Kalahari so that I could write the novel.
When he passed in July 2025, I began sending royalties to his mother who lives in Ghanzi, Botswana. Both are pictured here.
Supporting Wildlife Rangers in Zambia
Defend The Sunrise
All royalties generated from Defend the Sunrise will be donated to support families of rangers in Zambia. NJOVU African Wildlife Conservation has offered to help disperse this financial assistance to needy families.
NJOVU is an excellent resource for conservation in Zambia and is well known in the ranger community. Working alongside local communities, the organization combats poaching, protects endangered species, and promotes sustainable coexistence between people and wildlife.
